- The cost calculator runs in your browser and doesn't send us your answers.
- When you use the Quote Checker, Anthropic's AI reads your file for us. We don't keep the file. If you confirm the lines it read, we keep those lines and the first three digits of the ZIP code.
- We count visits without cookies and don't track you across other websites.
- When you call a company through our site, it gets your phone number as with any call, and it may pay us.
- If we show a request form and you send it, we pass what you enter to the company named on it, which pays us. Some state laws call that a sale, and you can opt out.

Who we are
RestoreCost (restorecost.com) is published by Signal Works, LLC, a Michigan company ("we" or "us"). Questions about this policy go to hello@restorecost.com.
When you visit the site
Our site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or local storage and doesn't fingerprint visitors. It doesn't record the text after the "?" in a web address. We don't use advertising cookies or ad trackers, and we don't use other analytics tools.
Where we show call buttons, we use the approximate location Cloudflare gives for your IP address to check whether a local company takes calls near you. We don't store it.
The cost calculator
Your answers stay in your browser. When you enter a ZIP code, your browser downloads our public table of local labor costs for ZIP codes starting with the same digit, so the request only shows which of those tables you needed. Fair Price Check, which compares a quote total with your estimate, also runs in your browser.
The Quote Checker
When you upload a quote, here's what happens:
- Your file goes to our service on Cloudflare, which sends it to Anthropic's API so its AI model (Claude) can read the line items. We don't save the file. Anthropic, our service provider, deletes it within 30 days. It may keep it up to 2 years if its safety systems flag it under its usage policy, or longer if the law requires. It doesn't use it to train its models.
- We show you what it read. Nothing from the quote is compared or saved until you confirm.
- When you confirm, we keep the line items and prices, the first three digits of the job's ZIP code, the kind of water, the wet area, the result and the date. Before saving, we strip out email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses and claim numbers in the formats we can spot, but we can't catch every one. We don't ask for your name or address, and we never keep the file. Check the lines for personal details before you confirm.
To keep the free service from being overused, we record each upload's time, file count and size, whether it worked and what it cost us, with a code made from your IP address. We don't store your IP address itself. The code changes every day, and we erase it after two days.
We may also use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you're not a bot. It processes your IP address and browser and connection details, and Cloudflare also uses them to improve its bot detection. See Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Only upload quotes you have the right to share, and leave out other people's personal details where you can.
When you call a company
Where a call button appears on our guides, it connects you with a local company, often through a call network that routes the call. The network and the company receive your phone number and the call's details, such as its time and length, as with any phone call, and they may record it for quality and billing. They may pay us for the call. What they do with your information is covered by their own privacy policies.
When you send a request form
In some areas we may show a form you can use to ask a company to call you. If you send it, we pass what you enter, such as your name, ZIP code and phone number, to the company or call network named on the form, and it pays us for the request. The form shows the consent wording for calls and texts. Under some state laws this counts as a "sale" of personal information; see your choices.
When you email us
Cloudflare Email Routing forwards mail sent to hello@restorecost.com to our inbox hosted by Google Workspace. It checks messages for phishing but doesn't store them. We use your message and address to reply, and keep them as long as we need to for that and for our records.
Who we share information with
- Service providers that run parts of the site for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security, analytics, our database, email forwarding and bot checks), Anthropic (reading uploaded quotes) and Google Workspace (email).
- The company or call network named on a request form you send, as described above. When you call a company, you share your number with it directly, as with any call.
- Others when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
- A buyer of the site, if Signal Works, LLC ever sells or transfers RestoreCost; this policy would still apply to information collected under it.
Apart from request forms you choose to send, we don't sell personal information. We don't share it for advertising, and we don't give it to data brokers.
Cookies, tracking and browser signals
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set short-lived cookies it needs for security and bot protection, such as __cf_bm, and we don't use them for anything else.
We don't track you across other websites, and we don't let other parties do so through our site, so we don't change anything in response to a browser's "Do Not Track" setting. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request not to sell or share your personal information, and we won't show you request forms.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy,
- correct or delete it,
- stop selling or sharing it, including request forms sent to companies.
Email hello@restorecost.com with "Privacy request" in the subject. We'll answer within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you why and take up to 45 more days. To confirm it's you, we'll match the request to the email address or other details you gave us. We won't treat you differently for asking.
You can use an authorized agent. We may ask the agent for your signed permission and ask you to confirm your identity with us directly. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject, and we'll answer within 60 days. If you disagree with our answer, you can contact your state attorney general.
Some state laws, including California's and Connecticut's, give you these rights by law. Prices you confirm in the Quote Checker aren't stored with your name or contact details, so we usually can't find them to delete. To stop calls or texts from a company you contacted, tell that company, or reply STOP to a text.
We don't use or sell personal information to train AI models.
How long we keep information
We keep confirmed quote prices to build our ranges. They aren't linked to you, and we won't try to link them to anyone. We keep upload records to enforce limits and track what the service costs, and we erase their daily code after two days. We keep emails as long as we need them to reply and for our records.
Security and where data is kept
The site uses encrypted connections, and we collect as little as we can. Our database is stored in the United States on Cloudflare's infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send us sensitive information we haven't asked for.
Children
RestoreCost is for adults dealing with home repairs. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. We don't knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 18. If you think a child sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new date. If a change is material, we say so at the top of this page for at least 30 days. We won't use information we already have in a materially new way unless you agree.
